Community Involvement
Community involvement is very important for local chapters. As IMBA works at the national level and VMBA works at the state level, VMBA chapters work at the local level. Politically, we need to be involved with local decision makers. Attend town and regional meetings of the conservation commission, planning board, recreation committee, selectboard and any other groups that help you stay abreast of town policies. Serving on these boards provides even more clout, gaining a vote as well as a voice.
Becoming active and involved locally will make our voices heard from hill to hill and connect our communities through shared trail systems. Being a good listener and communicator is important in forming these bonds.
As we become more active in more towns, VMBA will have a stronger, more informed voice on the state level. This will help us to inform and educate the general public.
